Picture Sky is an artwork and a participatory event by Karolina Sobecka (PL) and Christopher Baker (US). All citizens located in Zagreb and willing to participate in the event can join the collective photographing of the sky on December 1st 2018 and thus become a part of this art project and its presentation at the festival Device_art 6.018: Machines are Not Alone taking place at Zagreb's Museum of Contemporary Art from 18th December 2018 to 3rd February 2019.
The event is based on a mass group photographing of the sky: all participants on various locations across Zagreb take photos of the sky in this one particular moment - on Saturday, December 1st 2018, precisely at 11:03:42. This is the moment when the TERRA satellite passes over Zagreb and makes photos of the city from its celestial orbit!
The guidelines for participation are simple: you just need to face your mobile phone camera to the North, parallel to the sky, take a photo and upload it on the web application here: https://picturesky.net/. If you wish for your name to be listed next to the artwork and your photo, write it in the application. Before the exhibition opening, all the received photos will be printed and conjoined into one huge photo - a map of the sky which will become a part of the Machines arte Not Alone exhibition, the central event of our upcoming Device_art festival. The citizens of Zagreb will thus together create one unique picture of the sky parallel to the one made by the satellite.
