Test Lab performance and artist talk with Tin Dožić on Friday, December 7th will mark the opening of the 6th Device_art - international festival of art, robotics and new technologies.
On Saturday, December 8th, the programme brings workshops with Slovene artist Špela Petrič, Iranian-Canadian artist Navid Navab and KONTEJNER curator Klara Petrović as well as a presentation of the project Short Circuit and a performance by the artistic duo Adam Donovan and Katrin Hochschuh.

Špela Petrič wonders what is going to happen if clones took over the world. By using scientific methods, new media and performance in her artistic practices she emphasizes the significance of understanding the cloning process. A three-hour workshop The Attack of the Carrot Clones uses a hands-on approach to perform the hello world of plant tissue culture with simple DIY techniques and minimum specialty equipment.

Navid Navab's hibrid theoretical-practical workshop Improvised play with alchemical matter will explore non-anthropocentric sonification strategies. The artist invites the participants to bring with them to the Youth Centre found objects, gestures, experiments, materials, or any curious process or thing. The workshop includes basic electronics to continuous and topological approaches to gesture-following, machine-learning, and real-time sonification.

Case: Device Art workshop by KONTEJNER curator Klara Petrović brings the topic of production challenges in organizing a contemporary art exhibition. What are all the preparations preceding an exhibition opening? What to do when a work requires living beings, such as fish or insects? This workshop will tackle some of these intriguing questions.

We are closing the Device_art warm-up programme in Split with the transformative experience of Psychophysics Machines performance and artist talk with our EMAP/EMARE residency duo Adam Donovan & Katrin Hochschuh.
Programme is organized in collaboration with Platforma 9,81 as a part of the When someone says (Kad netko kaže) programme within the Urbanist platform.
