Choe U-Ram is internationally renowned for his signature Anima-machine series, which he has meticulously engineered since the early 1990s to generate movement and narrative. At the core of his artistic inquiry is a profound reflection on the concept of "life" itself, examining how human desire is projected onto technological evolution. Over the past three decades, his practice has expanded into social, philosophical, and religious realms, questioning human existence and coexistence. In 2006, Choe became the first Korean artist to hold a solo exhibition at the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo, and has since presented major solo shows across Asia and the US, including at the Asia Society Museum in New York. His work has also been featured in key international platforms such as the Shanghai, Liverpool, and Gwangju biennales.
