Technology penetrates life, assimilates and becomes an integral part of not only our everyday lives, but also the everyday life of our environment. Silently, it enters art spaces, where acrylic or gypsum are no longer physical components of the work process, but rather a motherboard, screw, pixel or processor are taking their place. Precisely this tendency to use technology and scientific theories as key elements in artistiv practices is the focus of Device_art project, contemplating at the same time our relationship to technology and its products. KONTEJNER as a curatorial collective must adapt to this new unity and take on new know-hows, boost its sensations, resourcefulness and skills to produce one again a successful exhibition at the crossroads of science and art.
What are all the preparations preceding an exhibition conceptually accomplished through works like Empathy Swarm that consists of robots trying to read human emotion, or Picture Sky, an application that strives to archive photographs of the sky taken, at the same time, by hundreds of different people? What to do when a work requires living beings, such as fish or insects, and whom to contact if we need, for example, a freezer box or a fitness machine? At Case: Device_Art workshop participants will encounter common problems that may arise when producing a contemporary exhibition that requires more than just placing artworks in a showroom.
