M24 is an installation made up of 24 sculptures that combine the properties of aesthetics and physics into an interactive experience. The swirling of water in a sphere, triggered by the action of the audience, activates the movement of fluorescent particles exposed to UV light, creating clusters akin to miniature galaxies. The kinetic sculptures in the shape of translucent spheres set in a parallel relationship represent an enlarged context of transience of time in one day of a person’s life.
Each sphere is a unique universe containing its own forms, relationships and cycles in a game of creation and destruction. There are 20 smaller, handheld sphere sculptures and four bigger ones. The scientific background of this work is based on contemporary ideas about time and space, such as the theory of parallel universes and string theory.
The interactivity of the M series emphasizes the importance of human impact on the environment, by centering on action as the main cause of motion in space. Observed in the context of everyday life, the consequence of human actions may be manifested through the existence of microplastics in the waters of the world.
It is the letter M that symbolizes the idea of the multiverse as a possible explanation of temporal-spatial relationships, in which the observer creates reality by undertaking action.
By questioning the multiverse ideas of string theory, the artist places the viewer at the center of the time-space continuum as the main link between worlds. It is the viewer who initiates the change that connects the multiple universes during the game of creation and destruction.
