During the Truth Serum performance, the performer sits on a chair in a half-darkened room, and truth serum is injected into him. Visitors enter one after another and have the right to one question, to which the subject will give a truthful answer.

One of the accepted definitions of truth is the condition of being in accordance with facts, or reality. But all individuals have their own truths, which are different from those of others. We are not talking about simple, ordinary and accepted truths, like those of maths, rather of more complex, philosophical and ethical, truths, which directly relate to a person’s purposefulness, existence, ethical behavior and morality.

The phenomenon of accepting lies as truth (like political and media spins) clearly shows that critical thinking is losing its strength and adjusting to the “new truth” for the purpose of ensuring the individual’s conformity. The lie has become a substitute formula for truth, which enables a person who uses it to avoid a legal penalty, it diminishes the value of the adversary, writes write a new history and is becoming a means of global ethical and moral devolution. The public has become so used to the lie that it has become a generally accepted weapon of destruction, at the social and political and the personal and intimate levels. Truth serum is a name for any psychoactive substance that is used to drag from a subject information that it is impossible to obtain by other means of interrogation. It is used by military intelligence operatives all around the world, calling it narco-analysis. Under the influence of the serum, the thinking of the subject becomes extremely simple, and he or she finds it impossible to create false information, thus, on the whole, telling the truth. The lie becomes too complex an operation for the brain, and truth (the production of which is a very simple process) is the most frequent answer.
