Documentary about the life and death of the performance artist Bob Flanagan, who was one of the longest living survivors among the cystic fibrosis patients (he died in 1996). SM sexual practices were an important aspect of his life and art. The cultivation of pain was a way for him to deal with this extremely tormenting, fatal disease. Flanagan lived to see 42, and all his life he had been fascinated by bondage, ritualized torture and humiliation. He also possessed an excellent sense of humour, often autoironical. The film includes excerpts from performances by Flanagan and his partner and collaborator Sheree Rose.
