Artist, Air Sculptor, Data Scaper. Working primarily with the computer as a metamedium and with sound, Hoonida Kim focuses less on technology itself than on the sensory and cognitive transformations that emerge through its use. In response to the vast flows of information that increasingly shape our environment, Kim proposes the “apparatus as a thinking body” (sayuche, 思惟体), which enhances our capacity to perceive and interpret our surroundings. Through these apparatuses, he explores modes of sensing for the near future and questions how we perceive and make sense of an increasingly complex world. Kim has exhibited at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea (MMCA), including Multiverse (2021) and Meditation on YouTube (2023), and at the Museum of Contemporary Art Busan (2026). He has held solo exhibitions at ThisWeekendRoom and Perigee Gallery, and in 2025 received an Honorary Mention in Artificial Life & Intelligence at the Prix Ars Electronica.
