Marijana Stanić (HR)

Marijana Stanić graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb in 2003. Her professional practice is centred on visual culture and contemporary art through both her own artistic work and socially engaged projects developed within the association 90-60-90 / Platform for Contemporary Art. She is the Director of Gallery 90-60-90 / Pogon Jedinstvo and works as a visual artist. She has been actively engaged in artistic practice since 2001. Her work spans a wide range of media, including drawing, audio, video and light installations, radio drama, objects, and art games. Motivated by a desire to question prevailing perceptions of the world we live in, she examines the value systems of contemporary society, consumerism, and representations of reality, while exploring models of everyday communication and strategies for living. Her works draw on the aesthetics of children’s toys, kitsch, and small ornamental objects, while her themes often engage with familiar realms of imagination through an ironic lens. She is a member of the Croatian Association of Fine Artists (HDLU) and the Croatian Freelance Artists’ Association (HZSU). She lives and works in Zagreb.
