Taeyoon Choi (KR)

Taeyoon Choi is an artist, educator, and organizer whose work explores the intersections of art, technology, computation, and community. Through installations, performances, workshops, and collaborative projects, Choi investigates poetic computation, alternative forms of education, accessibility, and more caring and equitable approaches to technology. His practice often brings together drawing, storytelling, electronics, and participatory forms of learning. He has presented his work internationally through exhibitions, talks, and educational programs at museums, universities, and cultural institutions. Across these contexts, Choi approaches technology not simply as a tool, but as a space for imagination, collective inquiry, and new ways of relating to one another. As an educator, he co-founded the School for Poetic Computation (SFPC) in New York in 2013, a school, residency, and research organization investigating the intersections of coding and artistic practice. He taught various courses and helped shape the school’s curriculum and community in collaboration with a network of organizers and teachers. Since 2021, SPFC has operated as a non-profit organization under a new generation of leaders. Choi currently teaches at Wayne State University in Detroit. He has served on the Board of Advisors of the Processing Foundation, and currently serves on the Board of Strategy of AFIELD, an international network of artist-led systems change.
