Tellervo Kalleinen and Oliver Kochta-Kalleinen People in white

The video work People in White portrays different dynamics between mental health care professionals and their clients. Nine psychiatric patients gather in a situation resembling group therapy and share their stories about psychiatrists and therapists, even re-enacting some of the situations. The stories vary from beautiful and healing meetings to horrific situations in which the psychiatrists misuses his/her power position. The film is shot in an abandoned mental hospital in Netherlands.

Tellervo Kalleinen and Oliver Kochta-Kalleinen

Oliver (1971) and Tellervo (1975) live and work in Helsinki and have been collaborating since 2003. They have presented their work at a number of solo and group exhibitons and festivals in Finland and world-wide, including MAF – Madness and Arts Festival, Haarlem (2010), Raise Your Voice – Ars Electronica, Linz (2010), Arctic Hysteria, Budapest (2009), Ars Baltica Triennal (2007; 2008), etc. They also initiated the projectComplaints Choir in 2005 in Birmingham.
